While working with infertility patients, I became interested in patients newly diagnosed with breast cancer and testicular cancer. I was very passionate about preserving the fertility of these young patients prior to chemotherapy or radiation. At that time, I became very interested in the cancer "journey." How do these patients make it through such a difficult process? How do they know who to call if they are confused, frustrated or just sad? The patients are involved with so many doctors and nurses with a cancer diagnosis that I felt compelled to "navigate" them through their cancer journey – from diagnosis to survival!

"The management of a patient's cancer is usually done by a team of physicians and nurses. The Nurse Navigator is critical because he/she serves as a liaison between the physicians and the patient to enhance communication. In my opinion, the Nurse Navigator is the "centerpiece" to an effective, coordinated and patient-friendly cancer journey."

Angie Jones

Marketing & Physician Relations Manager

Over the past 3 years I have helped educate the community, doctors and patients about the importance of a complete care cancer journey. Not only your physician, but your entire support team, is extremely important in such a traumatic life changing illness. My passion for education has led me to my current role as the “grassroots” community and marketing liaison for the Nurse Navigator. I truly understand the importance of having someone guide you through the cancer experience one step at a time, something that we were never offered. My husband is still in remission & we have a beautiful little girl, but I know that the events that have led me to this stage in my life could have been much easier with a Nurse Navigator to guide us. I will continue to strive to educate the community regarding cancer care and prevention and the importance of fertility preservation during your conceiving years.
